Behind The Wall is fully committed to socially-responsible drinking.
Alcohol abuse can lead to problems for consumers and BTW staff. Behind The Wall do not condone the misuse of alcohol, and we reserve the right to eject and exclude patrons who misuse alcohol (or illegal substances).
BTW fully support the UK government’s drink-drive awareness initiatives. After drinking the equivalent of 5 pints of beer, the likelihood of having an accident is increased by at least 30 times.
In the UK the alcoholic content of drinks are measured in units. One UK unit contains 8 grams of alcohol. Unit content can be worked out by multiplying the volume in ml by abv and dividing by 1000. The breath alcohol limit in the UK (April 2008) is 35 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath, although there are plans to reduce this further.
It’s not possible to quantify how much alcohol would take you over the legal limit for driving. This is mainly down to the variables in the strength of the alcohol and your body. |
As a rough guide, an average glass of wine (175ml) is likely to be around 2 UK units, whilst an average pint of lager is likely to be between 2 and 3 UK units, and a pint of strong cider around 5 UK units.
If in doubt please don’t risk it. Behind The Wall ask that you ensure your safety by leaving your car at home if you plan on consuming alcohol. In addition to the adjacent train station and nearby bus stop, there is a taxi rank just round the corner from BTW in Newmarket Street.
